She was All Conference for 3 years, All State her junior and senior year and was a key player in winning the State Championship Title in 198?.
As a senior, Shannon was nominated to play in the Summer Wyoming North-South All- Star Game at the University of Wyoming where she led the team in scoring.
Shannon lived up to her name while being a member of the 1982 Wyoming All - Star Basketball team that went to Europe to participate in the High School All Star Tour in Germany & Austria. This 2 week tour was an opportunity for Shannon and her teammates to experience many cultures and meet many different types of people from all over the world while sharing a sport that bridged much international communication.
Due to Shannon’s outstanding academic and athletic career at LHS, Shannon was highly recruited by many colleges. Shannon accepted a full ride scholarship for basketball and volleyball with Casper Junior College where she earned her Associates Degree in Business.
In Volleyball, Shannon was Region IX All Conference for 2 years and as a Setter, was part of the history that posted the best team record in the school history up to that point. She was also the point guard on the women’s basketball team that qualified for the National JUCCO Tournament.
Shannon was a fun and funny teammate. Known as “Buc”, her quick wit and jokester ways among teammates made each season memorable. She was proud of her family and always looked out for her most favorite teammate - little sis, Janet, known as “Little Buc,” who was also a gifted and talented teammate and student –athlete.
Shannon prioritized her school activities and always kept family first. She was active in her Church Ward and never missed an opportunity to make people feel special. Using her clever humor and quick wit were methods of how she would communicate effectively and make people feel comfortable.
Shannon Buckner Hamblin was truly a “Lady Eagle” that soared so high and accomplished much in her young life. Shannon belongs in LHS’s Hall of Fame as her spirit remains in the halls of LHS!
Her pride shows and her pride glows!
